Jaipur, September 5. Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas chaired a review meeting on medical and health services in Jodhpur district on Saturday, with a special focus on safe motherhood, maternal and newborn healthcare, patient safety and critical care.
Shri Srinivas directed officials to strengthen monitoring of high-risk pregnancies, ensure quality antenatal care and provide Kangaroo Mother Care to newborns. He stressed timely counselling, investigations and follow-up for pregnant women, along with continuous monitoring from the identification of high-risk pregnancies through treatment and subsequent care.
At Umaid Hospital, the Chief Secretary reviewed medical resources and treatment arrangements in view of the hospital’s high patient load. He directed strict adherence to clinical protocols in operation theatres and emphasised that patient safety must remain the top priority.
He also directed the Departments of Anaesthesiology and Obstetrics & Gynaecology to improve coordination and ensure effective monitoring of round-the-clock operation theatres, HDUs and ICUs for timely treatment of critically ill mothers and newborns.
Caesarean Section Services to Expand at Satellite Hospitals
The Chief Secretary directed officials to strengthen infrastructure, human resources and medical services at healthcare institutions in Bilara, Bhopalgarh, Dhawa, Pipar City, Osian and Balesar.
Caesarean Section services will be operationalised at these institutions in a phased manner to provide timely specialised maternal healthcare locally and reduce the patient burden on tertiary-care hospitals.
The meeting also reviewed antenatal care arrangements and emphasised the early identification, regular monitoring and timely treatment of high-risk pregnancies.
Senior officials, including Divisional Commissioner Kanhaiya Lal Swami, District Collector Alok Ranjan, Zila Parishad CEO Ashish Kumar Mishra and Principal of Dr. Sampurnanand Medical College Dr. B.S. Jodha, were present at the meeting.
