An MoU for the Kishau Multipurpose Dam Project was signed in New Delhi on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah. Union Minister for Jal Shakti Shri C. R. Patil and the Chief Ministers of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi signed the agreement.
Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma described the agreement as a significant example of inter-state cooperation and expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah. He said that the Prime Minister has accelerated the vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, Sabka Vishwas,” enabling the resolution of projects that had remained pending for decades with the consent and cooperation of the concerned states.
The Chief Minister said that Rajasthan has been fortunate to receive several major initiatives under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including the Yamuna Water Agreement, Ramjal Setu Link Project, Narmada Water Agreement and the Kishau Dam Project.
He said these water-related agreements are crucial from the perspective of long-term water security and would be remembered by future generations. The Kishau Dam Project, he added, will help ensure adequate water availability for irrigation, drinking water and other essential needs in six states, including Rajasthan, thereby contributing to their sustained development.
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Haryana Shri Nayab Singh Saini, Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Rekha Gupta and Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, along with ministers and senior officials from the concerned states, were present at the meeting.
